Scott Harbaugh: A Memorable Week . . . For The Wrong Reasons (Part 1)
You might not remember the exact dates, but you remember the events. The 1985 tornado outbreak, the Kennywood Park microburst in 2002 and the 1998 Mt. Washington Tornado all happened on May 31 and June 2. I’m going to blog on these over the next week. I’ll have links to pictures, videos and stats on [...]

Copious Amounts Of Rain
I stole copious from our chief, Mike LaPoint. My verbal SAT scores weren’t that strong. Kidding.
We’ve been a little behind in the rainfall department the last month, but we should fill up the buckets over the next couple of days. Rain is in the offing Thursday, Friday, Sunday (sorry Mom) [...]

HOCKEY FEVER — well yes, and no.
Fans have the fever as the Penguins are indeed heading to the Stanley Cup Finals, but the weather in Pittsburgh is anything but feverish — it FEELS like hockey season with well-below normal temperatures for nearly the last two weeks! The Penguins’ yet-to-be-determined opponent will face the [...]

Where’s May?
I don’t know about you, but I’d sure like to see more sunshine and warmer temperatures in the month of May then what we’ve been having. Mother’s Day was gray, wet and cool, (always sunny and warm in our hearts ), with highs only in the 50s. Tonight the cold weather [...]
Scott Harbaugh: Quite the Streak We’ve Got Going Here
Today marks the sixth straight day we’ve seen at least some rain at Pittsburgh International Airport. OK, I agree – that’s really not that impressive. Try this one . . . we’ve seen rain 12 of the last 13 days. Better?? It has rained 15 days this month (IT’S ONLY THE 19TH)! We’ve had at [...]

Jessica and I had an idea one day – Let’s tell viewers about all the cool Web sites out there. We thought it would be fun to do a video segment, so we came up with a format. I thought of the name 11 Clicks because that’s what people do while scouring the Web for [...]

3:00 p.m. and 53 degrees on May 16. WOW!! That’s about 17 degrees colder than normal for a mid-May afternoon. So, I looked up the record for the coldest high temperature for this date in Pittsburgh. 47 degrees in 1927. 47 degrees for a HIGH temperature in May. See, it can be worse.

It hasn’t exactly been the greatest stretch of weather lately. Cool and damp. We have had at least some rain eight of the last nine days. Temperatures for the month are averaging close to normal so far and rainfall is running about 33% above average (that will go up the next couple [...]

Games for the Pittsburgh Steelers and match ups at PNC Park can certainly be impacted (or even canceled) by the weather, but hockey?
With odds in favor of the Pittsburgh Penguins during the Eastern Conference Finals, I thought it would be interesting to look at (and do a two-part blog on) the meteorology of hockey — [...]
Mike LaPoint Asks, Where’s May?

Mother’s Day was gray, wet and cool, (always sunny and warm in our hearts ), with highs only in the 50s. Tonight the cold weather will continue as low [...]
